Cats are weird. It takes only one internet search of “funny cats” to see just how weird they are. But there’s no doubt about it—we love them dearly. Because we love our cats so darn much, it makes sense that we would want to extend their lives for as long as possible, and one of the most effective ways to do so is through a good diet. But with so many different kinds of cats foods on the market, how do you know which is best?
Cats don’t always do what we want them to. Actually, they rarely do what we want them to, especially when it comes to their food. Many times, introducing a new food becomes a frustrating battle-of-wills, with the finicky cat often coming out on top. We seem to be always at the whim of whatever our cats decide they want to eat at the moment, trying to keep up with their changing tastes and preferences.

Raw goat milk has 47% more Vitamin A, 25% more Vitamin B6, and 134% more potassium than its rival, cow’s milk. It is also packed with probiotics, enzymes, electrolytes, and other micronutrients that have many health-boosting properties. It soothes inflammation and relieves symptoms of IBD, Colitis, Pancreatitis and other digestive issues. Due to the lower levels of the Alpha-s1 casein which makes the curd much smaller, it’s a perfect daily supplement for dogs that are lactose intolerant. Unlike cow milk – which takes six hours to digest – goat milk can be fully digested in as little as 30 minutes.
Like human medicine, there are numerous specialty fields in Veterinary medicine, such as Nutrition, Internal Medicine, Dermatology, Cardiology, Oncology, Ophthalmology, etc. These veterinarians complete their four years of veterinarian school, followed by a four-year residency program. They then face a grueling two-day board exam. This elite group of specialists will have an extra letter after their DVM degree that is associated with their specialty field. They are usually part of the AVMA or the AHVMA, along with their specialty association.
One of the biggest hurdles that keeps pet parents from a transitioning to a raw diet is the cost. It is no secret that a commercially made raw dog food is more expensive than kibble. But when everything is factored together, how much are you really saving by buying kibble? Let’s take a look at exactly how much in this blog by Nicole Lindsley.
So it has now been six weeks that my Baxter baby has been on raw food. He has fully transitioned with absolutely no problems. I am very glad I did it gradually, it took a full month to do, but now he can handle food he could never eat before without having troubles just fine. Now that his digestion is doing so much better, I am less fearful of giving him little treats, like a piece of my bacon fat, or eating the leftover sauce when I have spaghetti. This makes him very, very happy because for a full year he hasn’t had anything but kibble and what he could scrounge off the floor at family dinners with my nephews.

I recently had a friend post on Facebook that her cute little Chihuahua needed serious dental help. She posted a picture of his plaque ridden teeth and asked for advise. I found it very interesting that many people were recommending Greenies or even a “natural” version of a Greenies, but no one suggested the most natural form of teeth cleaning… raw chicken necks.
