How do I serve the food?

We suggest leaving the food in an airtight container in the fridge overnight to let the frozen food defrost, and giving it to your pet the next day. You can portion the food out for the week in containers, and it will stay good in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Can I warm the food up for my pet?

Yes, You can pour warm water over the food, and mix it in to warm it up Another way is while the food is still in it’s container/baggie to slightly warm up the food before serving.

Can I cook the raw pet food in the microwave or a skillet?

No, we don’t suggest cooking the food as high heat breaks down beneficial nutrients and because the food contains bone.

Is lamb dog food good for allergies?

Yes, lamb isn’t used a lot in pet foods, and therefore is considered a novel protein. Pets with allergies and sensitivities tend to do well on a lamb diet.

Is lamb good for dogs?

Yes, lamb is a great choice for dogs. Lamb is packed full of essential amino acids and a great source of protein and healthy fats, which are great for your dog.

Is lamb or chicken dog food better?

This will depend on the individual dog. If your dog has a sensitivity to chicken, then lamb food will be better. If your dog doesn’t have any sensitivities, then we recommend switching between the different flavors to get the beneficial nutrients from both proteins.

What is lamb meal in dog food?

We don’t use lamb meal as an ingredient because lamb meal is made through a process using extreme heat, and through the heat process many beneficial enzymes, amino acids, and nutrients are destroyed.

Is lamb and rice dog food good for dogs?

Typically lamb and rice dog food will be a kibble dog food, which can be hard on the dog's digestive system as rice is inflammatory. At Steve’s Real Food, we recommend feeding a fresh natural diet such as our Lamu.

Our pups go crazy when it’s mealtime! They love all of the Steve’s frozen patties. We love that we can trust the ingredients!

  2. Alexandra Blakley

My 4 cats and 4 dogs love the Lamu! We don’t buy this one often since it’s more novel with a higher price point to reflect that m but it’s an important recipe in our rotation. Variety is so good for our pets and I like that the Lamu gives them 2 types of protein they don’t get very often. I feel like their Lamu meals must be a special treat for them. Everyone seems very excited but I can’t say they’ve ever turned their noses up to any Steve’s ☺️

  3. Kyle James

Definitely a good protein to have in the mix.

  4. Jessica

My dogs love this protein and are doing well on it!

Wish this protein could be available year round! My dog is so happy to eat it when it’s back in stock! Love the ability to rotate her proteins and know that no matter which option we choose, her food is packed with healthy ingredients!

  6. Katie Fischer

I love adding variety to my dog’s raw diet. I use the Steve’s lamu formula to add protein variety. Not very many other raw brands carry lamb or emu, especially for a price that’s as affordable as Steve’s! My dog has a sensitive stomach and does great on this brand.

  7. April H.

This flavor had been out of stock for a while (I’m guessing due to supply issues), but it’s back now and my dog is so happy! He loves it and I love how Steve’s supplies all the needed vitamins and minerals from whole, fresh ingredients
